Onyx is a stone of inner strength. It brings harmony and happiness, encourages determination and stability, and helps to relax. The name comes from the Greek word "onux", meaning claw or nail. It is considered a powerful protective stone, which is supposed to take a person into the very darkness of their soul and dig out pain, worries, traumas and repressed emotions. Because it is connected to the root chakra, it is an excellent stone for meditation.
